Pelican Pete’s looks like a restaurant you would find at the beach. The menu is extensive and varied, with a focus on seafood but with many other dishes. The décor is booths and a bar in two separate rooms. The restaurant draws a relatively rowdy crowd in the bar where they have darts, electronic games, and lots of beer. But the other half of the restaurant appeals to families who want a simple but good meal. Their staff is courteous and attentive.

My wife started with superb Maryland Crab Soup ($4*). We also had a bucket of very fresh steamed mussels ($8*) and I tried the Jalapeno Poppers ($4*). Both were very good; the peppers have hot cheese in the peppers. The four of us then tried different things. We had the Seafood Garden Caesar Salad ($15*) and a Chef’s Salad ($8*). All the ingredients were fresh and crisp. I ordered the specialty, Baby Back Ribs ($15*) and my friend ordered the Fried Clam Platter ($7*). Both were very good and enjoyable. I have eaten there before and have had their excellent Cheddar and Bacon Burger ($7*) and also tasted one of their Hall of Fame sandwiches. This was an Iron Mike ($7*) that was excellent. I always like hot French bread. The have about 30 specialty sandwiches as well as regular sandwiches ($7*).

They have a rather extensive offering of fish and other seafood, with healthy choice options. These come on platters (market price*), or as sandwiches. They offer a healthy choice menu such as fresh fish steam grilled (market price*). They also offer different types of pastas that are divided into seafood, traditional, and specialty. Linguini Alfredo sounds excellent ($7*) as does Veggie Marinara ($9*). They have fresh desserts of the day, and also Hot Steamed Crabs available by the dozen or by the bushel. The menu at Pelican Pete’s is extensive, and all the food we had tasted very good.

This is a restaurant that is unpretentious, easy to drive to, and ideal for a relaxed and pleasant dinner.
